Agnes Varda

Grace Hsia (夏梦怡) is a Chinese director and producer whose work traces the quiet fissures of memory, womanhood, and cross-cultural identity. Her debut feature To My Dearest, rooted in her life across continents, was selected for Visions du Réel pitching 2026 as one of 15 projects worldwide and highlighted by Filmmakers Magazine. She is selected for the residency of Giornate degli Autori at the Venice Film Festival 2026.

An alumna of the Locarno Film Festival Documentary School 2023 and Gold Award recipient of Jia Zhangke’s Outstanding Talent Program, Hsia brings a background in visual communication and over a decade of experience across documentary and fiction. She previously directed documentaries at Enlight Pictures, a major Chinese studio, and contributed to several theatrical releases. She is also the founder of Wild Angle Films and a film lecturer at CUHK (Shenzhen) and for Panasonic LUMIX.

Her short films Silent Storm (2022), Her Distance (2023), and Broken Flowers (2019) have screened at Busan, Shanghai, Tampere, LA Shorts, and Odense.
