GRACE HSIA is a Chinese film director and producer, and an alumna of the Locarno Film Festival Documentary school(2023). She is the founder of Wild Angle Films. Since 2022, she has been a film lecturer for LUMIX and CUHK (Shenzhen).She previously worked as a documentary director at Enlight Pictures, one of the top film companies in China where she contributed to several feature film productions. Besides she is filmmaker supported by Cannes x China’s New Talents Going Global Program in 2023.
Grace’s previous films include the documentary A BOHEMIAN IN CHINA (2014), A TEMPORARY HOME (2015), LOST WITH DREAM (2016), and To My Dearest (2026). And her fiction short films STILL HOME (2017), BROKEN FLOWERS (2019), and SILENT STORM (2021) have been screened at numerous film festivals such as Oscar® festival LA Shorts, Flicker Fest, Odense, Tampere, and won awards.
Her directorial focus lies in crafting narratives that explore womanhood, cross-cultural experience, belonging, and social issues. Inspired by years of travel across Europe and the United States, as well as her own personal story, she is currently developing her hybrid documentary feature, To My Dearest. This project was selected as one of the 15 projects worldwide at VdR pitching 2026.
